Our story
I’m Matt Goolding, the founder of KYO Content.
KYO stands for Know Your Onions. Despite the logic, it’s a name I regret. Sadly, it stuck.
I started freelancing as a digital marketer in 2016, initially doing all sorts of work from social media to website design. In 2018 I decided to focus on my special subject: long-form written content.
Since then, KYO grew steadily and we’ve worked with some amazing companies.
Between 2018 and 2025, we focused on delivering big content projects for fast-growth brands, and I specialised in building writing and editing teams to nail the brief consistently. Our job was to scale content production beyond what any internal team could manage, and I provided a layer of strategic guidance to make sure our clients stayed on the right track.
(You can read our client stories for more info about the results we’ve achieved.)
As AI took hold in 2024-25, fewer people were asking “how can we scale content production consistently?” and more were asking “how the hell do we navigate this situation?”.
This prompted a change in our model, away from delivery and towards consultancy.
KYO is now set up to help startups, SMEs, and growth-stage companies design a content strategy to drive growth across the online channels that make sense for them.
